Hi

I've had two trains of thought. Either he was in a big hurry to meet his deadline, or he wanted to give this story a dreamlike quality. The blurring of time, the confusion of reality, does this. \

The spirit of Christmas past almost sounds like a fairy. The green robe goes with the greenery of Christmas present. Maybe?

My old paperback has several other Victorian Fairy stories. What an odd time! (Like the 1990's are normal;-))!!
