In response to Reading another A.S. Byatt book - Any suggestions?, written by KarenK on December 19, 1997 at 15:00:24

] I just finished Possesion. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Does anyone have any suggestions which book by A.S. Byatt I should read next? Thanks.

Having read most of her work, none are equal to Possession. Before making the commitment to her Frederica Potter trilogy, I would advise you to read "The Game." Its a couple of hundred pages, but it may give you a hint as to the darker side of Byatt. If you read the teaser on the jacket, they aren't kidding when they talk about sibling rivalry taken to the extremes. It's heavy.

The Virgin in the Garden, Still Life, and Babel Tower (the three of the four in the series) are quite good. Babel Tower is a killer and way tooooo long. I think I'm going to reread this series in a little while.

I have not read The Matisse Stories, but they may be lighter, but I'm not sure.
