] The first time I read Persuasion, I was pretty ho-hum about the whole thing. For one thing, Anne's introduction was almost the last one of the principle characters that were there at the beginning, so at first I couldn't figure out who was the main character, and for whom I should be match-making.

] Then I saw the movie, and cried at the Captain's proposal letter. I still get a thrill over me every time I read, "...with a heart even more your own than when you almost broke it eight and a half years ago." I declare I almost start to cry just thinking about it. I'm in a quandary as to decide which JA book I like best, but I'm almost willing to declare that I like Capt. Wentworth's proprosal more than even Mr. Knightley's to Emma. Mr. Darcy's to Lizzie (the second one, of course) ranks third; and the rest of the books, as near as I can recall, don't have specific proposals.

] I guess I'm just wanting to discuss the many perfections of Persuasion, and am not exactly sure where to begin, so I'll begin at a very illogical place--the end!

_Me, too, that -- You pierce my soul! What depth. My goodness. I loved that book, and the Root/Hinds portrayals. I understand JA wrote several (3 or 4) endings and I'm happy she left the letter in tack. I liked the book's ending better than the movie, however, that was gorgeous photography, the ship's silhouette, and brilliant sunset. That added beauty to it all, It's hard to tell which proposal I liked best -- each left such a impact._______
