Scrooge and Mr Bennet

I just poured my little heart out about Mr Bennet and regrets on the P&P board, then I came in here and, thought about Scrooge, and realized there are some parallels.

Mr Bennet is introspective enough not to need a guide -- only events -- to bring his life's errors into focus, but is more pitiable, I think, since there's little he can do now about the mess.
