We all know the phrase, "Bah, Humbug!", but how many of us know what it means? Just what is a "Humbug"?

It is a word that has fallen out of common use only just recently. If you recall in "The Wizard of Oz", the Scarecrow call the Wizard a "Humbug" when they discovered him behind the curtain.

The word "Humbug" means a cheat, a lie, a fraud. This puts a whole different light upon what Scrooge was saying, does it not?
