] ] Thanks Bonny. I knew some of them were dark, but hadn't read them myself. My 11 yr old daughter, who is not a great reader, has, however, enjoyed some.

] ] Are you in Australia, Bonny?

] Hil, yes I am ! I've thus far neglected to introduce myself on the Newcomers board, but, having lurked several months, I am ready for my "coming out", and couldn't resist joining in here. Marsden is a great author, but from what I've read he is a somewhat morbid person, highly sensitive to evil and good. This gives his novels "an edge", they are often very compelling, but the sometimes unexpected darkness in many (e.g."Letters from the Inside") makes them unsettling, something I would not have wanted myself to come across at 11, and still unsettles me a little - this from someone who doesn't find "P&P" too "light and bright and sparkling." Thankyou for your time,
] Bonny

Actually, I think 'Letters from the Inside' was one that my daughter liked, though she found the end puzzling. (Nothing wrong with puzzling ends, I say!). I live in Canberra, by the way.
