My response to this is no she wouldn't because the dynamics would be different. If she was Emma she would be entirely free to marry where she chose. And I think she would choose to marry for love
One of the reasons I think she would have taken an offer from the Colonel seriously is that she is poor and vulnerable, and understands the position her family is in.
