I have enjoyed your discussion and would like to contribute to it.
IMHO Lizzy's general attitude towards men she likes (Fitzwilliam, Wickham and eventually Darcy) is more like "wait and see". She seems to tell herself: hey, here's this interesting man, with good manners, who admire me; I may learn to love him, let me find what his character is. She sort of put them under close observation.
