In response to Fanny ha-ha or Fanny peculiar?, written by kates on December 04, 1997 at 14:11:41
] So what do people think about Fanny? Austen-ites (almost without exception) adore Lizzy but seem to be divided about the poor relation in MP. I have my views (about which I can lapse into rant at the drop of a hat, but I'll try to be good) but I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks.
Love the subject title of your post, BTW!
Although I don't experience the vein-popping emotion of the true "Fanny-basher", I will have to admit that she is down at the bottom of my pile of Austen heroines, along with Marianne Dashwood. They're both too extreme (in opposite directions, obviously) for my liking. Edmund actually annoys me more than Fanny, so consequently I can't agree with, although I can understand, the attraction to him.
