] I thank you for the warning--I wish I had known what I learned the hard way last month. Fortunately, although I have plenty of pro-Price ammunitions, I also am a master of meiosis and am schooled in the English art of cool fire. Those who share my enthusiasm for the excellencies of Mansfield Park will find me a most eager discussant; those who do not enjoy the novel--surely?--need not trouble themselves to read my posts. I will take care to headline them clearly in accordance witht the Truth in Labelling Act.
I am another enthusiastic fan of Fanny Price. I have been
lurking around Pemberley and the Jane Info page for awhile
now and was amazed at first that so many of JA's readers
do not like/understand her.
Perhaps I am prejudiced though, because I really do
identify with the character of Fanny. We share some
common family background (i.e. our fathers are similar)
and I have values very similar to Fanny's. Being a Christian, I do understand why she felt the way she did
about things that were going on around her.
