Permit me to suggest the novel Alma Rose by author Edith Forbes. This work has many of the elements of a Jane Austen novel: a small set of country families, a theme of love transforming the lives of these families, and a strong sense of moral value. There is some sexual activity depicted, so I do not know if this would disqualify the work for the generality of readers. I found it a delightful work.
