] ] Oscar and Lucinda
] I just finished reading this last week, so count me out. But it would make for good discussion. Lots of symbolism and density.

] ] The English Patient

] Just read it last summer, before I saw the movie, so ditto for this one.

Many of us will have read some of the books recently. You don't have to count yourself out cause you're ahead of the pack. I hope you would participate along with everyone!

] ] Tom Jones (before the A&E series is shown in the US)

] This would be a tough one, stylistically, to get through. Well, at least for me; I've tried and failed several times!

I'm getting the message on this. I might get hold of it and see what I think before I schedule it!

] *these books are probably the most "guy-pleasing" books on my list, just in case gender is an issue...;-)

Quite frankly, I don't think it is. The "guys" who are here are here because they like Austen, which isn't exactly typically guy pleasing stuff. So I think we should be guided by what we (all of us!) want to read, not by what will please some theoretical guys!.. But thanks for all the suggestions you make, which are great. :-)
