In response to Elizabeth too!, written by Constanza on December 01, 1997 at 14:49:38
``Yes,'' thought Elizabeth, ``that would be a delightful scheme, indeed, and completely do for us at once. Good Heaven! Brighton, and a whole campful of soldiers, to us, who have been overset already by one poor regiment of militia, and the monthly balls of Meryton.'
] Up to now I had thought that neither Elizabeth nor Jane were used to pursue officers, but it seems I was wrong!! You too Lizzy!!!!
I think that Lizzy is being sarcastic. By "we," she doesn't mean herself and Jane, but the household and their acquaintance in general. Certainly Lydia, Kitty, and Mrs. Bennet's preoccupation with the regiment has overshadowed almost everything else at Longbourne.
