] ] I just ordered the Nokes biography thru Bookserve, and am now feeling slightly apprehensive. One thing I can say is, the biography by Park Honan (1987?) , was, IMO almost unreadable and obtuse. Well, I'm sure things will turn out....... :-)

] I only mentioned one review I read. I've actually seen other reviews of Nokes' JA bio that said it was good. It sounds like it is well written, but doesn't have a "favorable" attitude towards our beloved JA. But it's always good to keep an open mind. I was thinking about getting it myself. I hope that you are able to enjoy it.

I read it a little bit ago and did enjoy it. It gave me some insight into events that were occuring around Jane Austen. The first chapter is especially interesting because it gives you a view into Eliza Hancock's interesting parental situation.

I think that it was well worth reading.
