] ] Despite Fanny's lack of action, I like her. I like her a lot! She may be a bit of a wimp (Lizzy she ain't) but she always remains true to her principles which is more often than not more difficult and heroic than confrontations.

Could I join you in the I Like Fanny camp?
Not only is she non-confrontational, (is that a word?), a trait of which I approve, but she is compassionate, long-suffering (not always a virtue), forgiving, loyal and, generally, a good person with a lot of strength of character. Whew! that is a lonnnggg sentence.
