But I prefer to see this as showing Lizzy's growth, not her humiliation. She learns that all is not black and white and that human behavior has more subtlety than she realized.

I agree with your claim, but I would also say that growth of character may, and often does include humiliation --a humiliation of that the self alone experiences. I think this is particularly true for Elizabeth.
