] Isn't Elizabeth's reaction on hearing of Jane's illness really justified? I mean, she has to walk through muddy fiels in order to get to her, and it is a rather long walk. Doesn't she overreact? I think Bingley's sister are right here!



Don't forget three things: 1) there were no antibiotics then -- people died from a lot of illnesses that are easilly cured today. 2) She knew Jane was not a complainer and could have been very ill before she was called, and 3) Jane Austen's heroines tend to be the nurses -- it is a common theme.
