In response to Smiling, written by Erin on November 23, 1997 at 21:08:56

] I hope you won't regret asking the questiuon, Linda. ;-) Smiling does not preclude shyness but I think the act of smiling can indicate a certain level of sociability and social engagement. In this respect, I believe we're talking about Darcy smiling while in conversation.

] I hope this ends your puzzlement. Maybe I should have said that Kate's comment suppports, rather than proves, my point.

No regrets.
I was afraid that you would give a very deep and philosophical response that I would not understand (I don't do philosophy). Then I would feel like a complete idiot. :-)
Upon reflection, your point has a great deal of merit. Most outgoing, friendly people that I know, do laugh and smile a lot, while I am frequently accused of being very serious about everything.

BTW, this response is meant to be lighthearted, not serious.

Thanks.
