] Sherry & Donna -- what should Fanny have said and to whom? What should/could she have done to prevent Maria's marriage -- and why should she have done that?
-_______
She coulda laid a timid hand on Maria's arm and said I am concerned for you. (whether listened to or not)
She coulda encouraged Edmund in his initial misgivings about Mary Crawfords character instead of letting him blow them off.
She coulda asked Edmund (as a son of the house and someone she could expect some sympathy from) TO GET HER A FIRE! for goodness sake, this is ridiculous.

She shoulda- Smothered Aunt Norris while she slept.
She shoulda -Smacked Edmund's face.
She shoulda- Kicked the crap out of Mary Crawford.
She shoulda- Drowned the pug.
Need I go on?

She woulda sparked a little pity and or admiration (just a bit) if she had "nearly always tried" any of the above. :-)
