Poetry - the food of Love?

I have always been amused by Lizzy's reaction to Mrs. Bennet's narration of the Jane/suitor/poetry matter: And so ended his affection......I wonder who first discovered the efficacy of poetry in driving away love! Mrs. Bennet blatantly attempts to show Jane in an attractive manner to Bingley, but why does JA include Lizzy's reaction to it(other than trying to quiet her mother)? I have often wondered if, perhaps, JA was not overly fond of love sonnets, but I never have found anything on point. Or is JA merely pointing out a difference between Darcy and Lizzy's reactions...romantic maturity or something else, perhaps?
