Did any of you pick up that 'bailey', being an outer wall or inner defence circuit of a castle, ties in so nicely with all the images of the defensive secluded tower for the females in the story, and their struggle for inner space and freedom. And LaMotte could be tied into either or both of the the French word mot for word, or the French origin for moat.
