It's during this tangent that I've started to dislike Edmund because he was such a looser the way he rationalized acting in the play. He just wanted to be with Mary! And I really feel for Fanny. I've been in a situation before where I shared convictions with a guy and then, when a pretty gal comes along, the principles get thrown out the window. I really hope that later in the book Edmund grows in a way that makes me respect his character again.
