] It's a quote from Hamlet. Hamlet writes a letter to Ophelia which is read aloud by someone (Polonius?) and the closing is, "Yours, while this machine is to him, Hamlet." He means "as long as I have this body."
There's also a play called Hamet Machine. It is excellant, give it a try if someone produces it near you.

An annoted version is a possiblity since the novel is being taught so frequently.
