Byatt is obviously an extremely brainy woman, and I have wondered about her choice of publishing under the name "A.S. Byatt" which could denote either sex. Do you think she is "hiding her assets?"

Is there a picture of her on any of her book covers? There isn't any on the trade pb of POSSESSION.
