Begging to differ! Rebecca is a deeply improtant work on many levels-- especially as concerns feminist psychology. (See "Venus in Spurs" for one view.)
I realize Rebecca is not regarded as "great literature", but perhaps we will be surprised in 50 or 100 years?
Is DuMaurier's work routinely dismissed only because it's more recent than JA or the Bronte's, or because it's essentially beach reading for the very-silly-psuedo-intellectual set (me!)?
