so far...not so good

I have just finished reading the letters exchange part of Possession. This book strikes me as nothing more than an intellectual retelling (or perhaps it proceeded it) of the Bridges of Madison County, with poetry interspersed.

I did not like Bridges at all so you can guess my opinion of this book so far. Although I do intend to finish it and reserve the right to change my mind.

The "mind" passion spoken of in posts below must appeal to loftier minds than my own. It hasn't stirred anything in me except a desire for the author to get on with it. I find I don't care a thing for Ash and LaMottes fling ! I don't even care about the hero (if that's what Roland is supposed to be) ending up with Val, Maude or even dead. Perhaps it improves??
