] I haven't been able to come up with actresses, either. Christabel and Maud are so complex and carefully described that it seems impossible. C. is about 35; If either were younger, Michelle Pffeiffer or Susan Sarandon would be excellent (I'm not sticking with English actors; a good actor can handle the accents. For that matter, a younger Meryl Streep could handle Christabel.) I'm thinking of an actress with really expressive eyes and a fierce intelligence. Remember, Ash falls in love with her instantly. Those big teeth, though...

] I'm not fond of Jeremy Irons for Ash. He's too mournful looking and even too old. I think Ash is 45ish.

That's the problem, actresses usually don't bcome well known for their intelligence, usually sexual attractiveness play a much larger part in them becoming sucessful. If we go to Americans, I wish Jodie Foster were taller because she'd be a good Maud, fierce intelligence and coolness are part of her package. Still I think this should be a British production since there are good American parts in the going.
