In response to Possible Actress for Maud...., written by Nora on October 23, 1997 at 17:15:48

] I think I might have found the perfect actress for Maud, but I am not sure. How about Allison Elliot? She played Virginia in The Buccaneers (the sister who got tricked into marrying that guy who didn't really love her)

] She's blond, she's tall, she's got that tormented yet in control sort of look in her face, and I was really moved by her performance for some reason.

] She is the second from the left in this picture. It's the best I could find, and she's not the maid and not holding the baby.

] Was Cristabel supposed to be blond? How about Val? I guess I just don't pay attention enough. I would choose the guy who played Tom Tulliver in Mill on the Floss over James Frain. Ifan Meredith (though less experienced), has more of a studious look about him IMO for some reason. And besides, he's total drool material.

] I agree that Jeremy Irons would make a great RHA, because I just saw him in Waterland with Ethan Hawke on BRAVO, and I was convinced.

I thought of her but I could remember her name so thatnk you for both the name and the pic. Yes, I think she's got most of the right qualities for Maud, the only thing is I've never seen her in contempory dress. So I can't judge whether she's quite tall enough (my sense of scale goes off with Victorian dress). Still, I guess we could put her in tall boots to accentuate the height. Allison Elliot is English and while not a Sloane herself, she did go to school with them so she should be able to get they particular kind of casual elegance down. Marvelous suggestion Nora!
