I know this is weird, but I couldn't get into that book. I read the first story and thought...oh, that's Ok...and then started the second one at least three times and got bored. I've read Byatt's Frederica Potter series (Virgin in the Garden, Still Life and Babel Tower, now there's a doorstopper for you). Maybe I'll try again. One time I even tried to rent the movie and it turned out the tape was defective (not at all viewable) and I never tried again. Fate was against me.
BTW, I read somewhere that it was no coincidence (never is with Byatt) that the words Insects and Incest sound so alike!!
P.S. Little, if any of this goes back to the courses I took in college--no poetry at all. I'm just exercising my mind in ways I haven't done for years (been focused too much on corporate mumbo jumbo). Shaking out the cobwebs, so to speak. And...it's fun.
Christabel's poem is going to have to wait until next week.
