] Perhaps I stated myself too broadly, but you mistake my meaning. I was referring to the tendancy of love bringing out the best qualities in a person. Rochester lost his arrogance and had a religious awakening, or re-awakening and strove only to be worthy of Jane. Loving and losing Jane was certainly the catalyst for this transformation.

] I was by no means referring to the belief that a person can reform someone of bad character by virtue of their love.
