I checked out A Christmas Carol a couple of years ago to read to my kids and it was a real eye opener. It is a dark, serious story, clearly for adults, and is far from the lighthearted piece of fluff that we have becomed accustomed to seeing on the screen. (Actually, I saw Tony Randall play Scrooge last year at Madison Square Garden -- CD is turning over in his grave!). I highly recommend reading it, whether it is discussed here or not.
