I'm not sure what you mean about a continuum - is it that Mary C is even more outspoken than Lizzy, with Fanny at the opposite extreme? JA's point may have been that Mary C's morals where shaky, unlike Lizzy, despite their similarity in personality, but I'm not convinced that it is morally right to ignore 'bad' behaviour in others; such 'obligation' can shore up the abuse of power.
