Big words, complex sentences

One of the things that I enjoy most about Bronte and Austen is the fact that I have to put some effort into getting the real point of what the characters are saying, and what the authors are saying through them. Modern literature bores me, anymore, because there are few verbal tangles to interpret compared to 19th century English lit!
Anyone agree with me?
