Consciously, right. I think a lot of women chose cruel partners on another level, maybe believing they are deseving of the punishment. And those types can reinforce the belief, creating an awful cycle.
And you're right, Rita's exercise on the P&P board was a good one. It's important to keep reality in view and not be too carried away by these tales.
I guess I had not read JE since my divorce and it's been painful for me to re-evaluate what exactly it is I find attractive in a romantic hero. Sad, too, that I book I've been reading for almost 30 years isn't as much of a favorite as it once was.
Forgive me you guys. Tell me to lighten up. I've been in the dumps anyway and this story isn't helping.
