] Well now I feel that he has paid for his past actions and he seems truly repentant. He now deserves Jane and he really, truly loves her. I think that the loss of his hand and vision were nothing to him in comparison to his loss of Jane.

They do, don't they? I love the reunion scene, Jane, all tenderness, Rochester not able to trust his remaining senses. "These are certainly her limbs..." And just where are your hands Mr Rochester?! ;-)

We spoke of humor the other week, and I chuckle all through the conversation when Rochester is quizzing Jane about St. John. "Did you like him? You say he was 50? His brain is soft? He's ugly? He's priggish? (aside) Damn him!" ;-)
