Wild Sargasso Sea

I'm thinking of reading Wild Sargasso Sea, but maybe
I should get some opinions first. I know how some
sequels ruin the actual book (Rebecca-Mrs. DeWinter)
and this is a 'prequel' so I don't know. Can anyone recommend it?
