In in the interest of starting a buzz for this group read, I second the emotion. This really is an extraordinary book. I know at least four people would rate it as one of their favorite books ever. One friend put it down on her first try, but picked it up again this summer and finally understood what everyone was talking about. So give it a chance-you won't be disappointed.
