] Jane was saved by her destiny I guess. The fact that she hears Rochester calling her is what saves her. I couldn`t bear the thought of her going to India with St John. For me, it would be the total destruction of everything I love in Jane´s character and, consequently, the novel.

I finished last night, and don't remember being so disgusted with St John before. Oh my! I was also suprised by CB devoting the last words of the story to St John. I don't feel he (and others like him) deserved that much.
