] What an infuriating, complex, vile, inspiring and frightening character Bronte has created in St. John! (shudder!)
What frightens me are the women who give in to guys like St. John. For whatever reason, they give what's best in themselves up because they are persuaded to (Like Rochester and St. John try to do) or worse, because they "love" him.
