A solution?

] What is your opinion (as Jane B says). Should Jane have run off like that. I mean I understand her doing it but was it the best way to deal with the problem. Think of Mrs. Fairfax and poor little Adele - not to mention Rochester. It seems to me rather cowardly not to mention just plain stupid to run away and nearly die rather than to stay and work on a solution.
I don't know that there was a "solution" to the problem, which was, of course, that Rochester is already married! I suppose she could have tried to stay long enough to get the salary due her, but I think she feared being in the same house as Rochester; that if she stayed any longer, his power over her and her love for him might cause her resolve to weaken. She knew she had to leave and didn't want to take the chance of being talked out of it.
