I agree. I've never thought of him as a jerk; actually since
I'm not as strong as Jane, I probably would have just
fell to him. But that's not very feminist. Darcy is nice, but
too unromantic. I remember reading P&P, longing for a Bronte guy to come in. Mr. Rochester is so interesting, passionate.
I don't think there are too many literary heroes that can
compete with him.
