Did anybody ever read the Cherry Ames nurse series as a kid? They were a little like Nancy Drew, only more romantic. Rex the haughty doctor pulled a Darcy through the first several volumes, but kept the sexual (for a 10 year old? I guess...) tension going, making you anxious to buy the next book.
