] JE and P&P FOR INSTANCE
I think a lot of literary love matches have to begin on a bad note. A story where the match began on a good note, went smoothly along, they got married, never fought, ho hum, ho hum, no real story there. The 3 love stories I can think of are begin on a bad note, end on a good note (P&P), begin on a good note, have difficulties, end on a good note (Persuasion), and begin on a good note and self-destruct (Romeo and Juliet). Oh no! A fourth! Rhett and Scarlett -
begin bad, have some laughs, end bad.
It's an interesting observation that you've made. Somehow I feel that the begin bad, end well is the real classic pattern.
