Jane's relatives

] Why wouldn't Jane even try to locate any family members? The doctor offered to help, but she blindly trusts a woman she hates. I would at least want proof that my relatives were beggars before I decided what is the best for me. That could have saved her from Lowood.
She didn't want to find them. I mean, come on, if Aunt Reed, who had known her all of her life, was so bad, how bad would an uncle be whom she had never seen. She didn't have many examples of people's being kind to her, so she probably thought that as far as relatives were concerned, all hers would treat her ill. Besides, if she had found them, and they were as poor as Mrs. Reed makes them out to be, then she would probably be forced to live with them, whether she wanted to or not, when she saw their poverty.
