] not to be picky, but was that just in the movie? i don't recall it in the novel, i know it they chopped off girls hair, but i don't think helen was singled out.

] anyway, i was going to remark on the ice in the pitchers...i could not even imagine trying to wash my face in ice cold water, wuss that i am. it seems to me that that particular scene stuck in my head, more than any of the other horrors at Lowood

] in a side note, i am thourghly enjoying this group read. this is my first participation. unfortulatatly i've reading ahead and can't put down the book...the best parts are coming up :)


]The haircut of Helen was only in the movie. It was Julia Severn who had her hair cut as well as all the girls of the first class. Mr. Brocklehurst couldn't tolerate curls or braids.
