Mrs Reed & punishment

] ] Yes, but does it make you feel better for long, or, like Jane did, do you eventually feel that you would have done better to have kept quiet? I think that this was an important life lesson for Jane and it helped determine her later conduct.

] I was surprised that Mrs. Reed did not punish Jane for that outburst. She had been incredibly mean many times before for lesser transgressions.


i've always assumed it was because Mrs. Reed was frightened of this little girl, who she was supose to take care of, shouting at her, like a devil's incarnate. and Mrs Reed was to weak to take it.

my opinion. :).
