] Why wouldn't Jane even try to locate any family members? The doctor offered to help, but she blindly trusts a woman she hates. I would at least want proof that my relatives were beggars before I decided what is the best for me. That could have saved her from Lowood.
I bought it, too, Nora. She was ten. Considering the times and the kinds of associations she may have attached to poverty, I can see it.
