I don't want to run this issue into the ground if it isn't there already, but I have read this book three times already and I want to make sure I get everything straightened out. Someone said in response to my first post, that it was possible for John to have called Jane, Joan because he didn't care to get it right. However she calls him Jack. Is it mutual?

Oh and Helen where are you from?....I never heard of that saying before...
