In response to Helen's Gravestone, written by Cheryl on September 22, 1997 at 16:18:10

] One other footnote about Helen's death... I glossed over this on my first read, but it really struck me this time, at the end of chapter 9:
]

Her grave is in Brocklebridge churchyard: for fifteen years after her death it was only covered by a grassy mound; but now a grey marble tablet marks the spot, inscribed with her name, and the word "Resurgam."

] for fifteen years by which time Jane (who is presumably responsible for the gravestone) would be some five yearsinto her marriage with Rochester.

] I like that Jane never forgot Helen, and returned to Lowood to pay tribute to her friend.

] (BTW- my footnote also states that "Resurgam" means "I will rise again" for those of us not up on our Latin.)
