I think that's why Charlotte Bronte was so anti-Austen: imagine feeling like Jane Eyre and having Fanny Price held up as a paragon! (Actually, I guess that's the position most of us are in with regard to Fanny: why can't we all go off and write like Charlotte did, that's whay I want to know)
